Principle behind the Accuracy of ADAM ADAM automatic cell counter is a precision microscope integrated with fluorescence  optics and image analysis software.  After the samples are stained with fluorescent dye, Propidium Iodide (PI), which intercalates DNA to stain the nucleus of the target cells, fluorescent images are taken automatically.  The system takes 20 60 images by movement of an automatic X–Y stage.  The obtained images are processed by image analysis software integrated inside of the system.  All procedures are automated once the stained sample has been pipetted onto the disposable chip.

Disposable Microchips Conventional automatic cell counters utilize a flow cell or counting chamber, which is permanently integrated inside the devise.  During or after cell counting, tubing or the counting chamber can become clogged by cell debris.  Therefore, conventional automatic cell counters require necessary routine maintenance and cleaning.

ADAM automatic cell counter utilizes a precision disposable microchip which eliminates problems associated with permanent counting chambers and tubing.  Each microchip is designed for single use.  Pumping, cleansing, and waste collection is not required as with conventional automatic cell counters. Also, the risk of exposure to potential hazardous materials, such as patients’ blood samples, is completely eliminated with disposable chips.  Each microchip is produced in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, and is validated for accuracy.

Data You Can Trust Accuracy & repeatability.

As accurate as FACS counting: Cell counting accuracy depends on the counting volume.  8.5µL counting is 8.5 times more accurate than counting 1µL analysis.  ADAM analyzes up to 60 images which is equivalent to 8.5µL counting volume.

These improvements specifically address variation attributable to low sample reads (some competitor models only perform one read), low sample volumes (most models only read 1µL or less), and inaccurate resolution of cells (often found when cells clump together).  The results are amazing when using the ADAM automatic cell counter and it is common to have R2 values over 0.99 and CVs < 1%.
