Spring Break
The second day of spring, so time to relax. Chinny will have a new friend to take care of him and give him treats for a week. He will have a clean hutch with all new everything, including his Timothy Hay. Chinny LOVES his Timothy Hay!

But, no new blog entries for a week.

Happy Spring! (I will upload some new chinchilla pictures of the day before I go, so you will have those to look forward to.)

Taking Chinchilla Pictures
Chinny was just down in the play room, and I was thinking "I wish I had a video camera." He was literally jumping off the walls, which is a hoot the first time you see it! Chins run around the room, and then just jump at the wall and hop off them sideways. Do all chins do this?

I've tried to catch it with a still camera, but the best I've gotten is the picture that is a thumbnail to this blog from the home page. (See "Related Link" below.)

Chinchilla Picture of the Day
The Chinchilla Picture of the Day page has been updated so that it is now easier to add the Picture of the Day to your home page as a Google Gadget.

There is now an "add to Google" button under the picture which will easily add the Chinchilla Picture of the Day.

Blog Replaces Discussion Board
The Chinchillalife discussion board has been deactivated. Unsavory promoters who sell "increased search engine rankings" were creating fake users solely for the purpose of populating the "web site" link in the user signup.

When search engine robots crawl the web, one thing that increases a sites ranking is how many other sites have linke to that site. If there are a lot of links, the site must be "important" and so it gets a higher ranking.

The people who sell these increased ranking services were using scripts to randomly create userids with links to their customer's sites. This was likely made easier due to the fairly popular, open source discussion board software that was being used for the Chinchillalife discussion board.
